Usage
TIt is an outdoor transformer bushing, typically made of porcelain (composite materials are also used), designed according to DIN 42531 for oil-immersed transformer systems up to a nominal voltage of 20 kV and continuous current up to 250 A.
The primary usage of a DIN 20NF250A transformer bushing CD480mm is below:
1. Electrical Insulation
It prevents short circuits and ensures safety. It provides high electrical insulation between the live conductor passing through it and the grounded transformer tank or enclosure.
2. Conductor Passage
It creates a safe and sealed passage for an electrical conductor (connected to the transformer's internal windings) to pass through the transformer tank's wall or cover.
3. Connection Point
From the electrical grid to the transformer's internal windings, it is the external connection point for attaching overhead lines or cables
4. Environmental Sealing
It helps to seal the transformer tank, preventing oil leakage from inside and the ingress of moisture or contaminants from the outside environment (especially important for outdoor applications).
These bushings are commonly found on medium-voltage distribution transformers, particularly those filled with insulating oil and used in outdoor substations or pole-mounted applications within the 20 kV voltage class range. They connect the high-voltage side of the distribution transformer to the network.
